Welcome to the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument (ATM) where culture, structure, nature and pleasure combine for an unforgettable experience!
We visualise the fascinating creation history of Afrikaans (meaning from/belonging to Africa) which originated as a contact language between people from three continents and developed into an advanced means of communication.
The monument, a symbol-laden sculpture on Paarl Mountain, attracts tourists and learners in particular, also for the beautiful scenery and varied events.
The charming museum in town, in the restored house where the GRA was founded, features contemporary exhibitions on, among other things, Arabic Afrikaans and the language’s musical adventures.
