On Tuesday, 16 July, the Taalmonument was a sight for sore eyes as it was the finish line for those participating in the mountaineering challenge of the South African Police Service’s national road cycling championships 2019. To thank the police officers for their selfless work, the monument made the site available for free for this event. About 120 cyclists from all nine provinces and the SAPS headquarters are participating in the championships, which take place in and around Paarl between 14 and 19 July.
