The DAK-Netwerk – recently set up to provide a structural foundation for the development of previously disadvantaged Afrikaans communities – held a highly successful conference in Cape Town this past weekend. DAK is named after three Khoisan icons – Doman, Autshomao and Krotoa – and also uses three pillars – identity, social empowerment and economic empowerment – to give a platform and voice to the broader Afrikaans-speaking community. Some of the speakers’ very interesting presentations on the truth about Afrikaans as well as reconciliation are available here on the ATM website. Read more about the conference at LitNet and about DAK on their website here.
