Hiking trails in Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve
  • The Taalmonument is situated next to Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve from where one has easy access to a network of hiking trails. Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve is managed by Drakenstein Municipality and not by the Taalmonument.
  • These trails can be accessed in two ways:
  1. via Meulwater Camp inside the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, via Jan Phillips Mountain Road (a gravel road). The Reserve charges an entrance fee over weekends and on public holidays: R29 per vehicle and R8 per person).
  2. via the Taalmonument's grounds:
  • How much does it cost? The normal Taalmonument entrance fee (adults: R15/R20 from 1 April 2013, students: R10, children: R5, and free entrance for children under six years.)
